Overview

Vloggi is an integrated collaborative video production platform. Vloggi allows teams
to easily collect, catalogue and combine thousands of video clips submitted by
remote contributors. Our main use cases are community engagement, customer
advocacy and internal communications.

The engineering team within Vloggi is responsible for developing features that help
our customers maximise their video contributions. Through our customer-led
development philosophy, we believe in developing features that allow our
customers to achieve success in their video storytelling and help them make each
project a success. We want to create brand fans that can’t wait to tell others about
their new business tool. We are ultimately looking for predictable, repeatable and
scalable growth processes through customer feedback.

As we scale up as a company, we will expand our engineering team to include
discrete functions across the stack. But as the first new engineer hired under our
chief technology officer, your role will be hands on building, maintaining and
optimising our current features. You will own the short term product roadmap and
be an expert in working fast to deliver features that drive repeat use and referrals.
Initially the lead engineer we are looking for will be able to work independently
under the direction of the chief technology officer and the chief executive. The lead
engineer role will also liaise frequently with the customer success team, where
feature requests originate.

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to work on the maintenance and development
of the whole Vloggi stack (MySQL, Express, React, Node) currently hosted on Amazon

Responsibilities
● Maintain the production environment to support the live activity
● Implementation of new robust set of services and APIs to integrate with external
partners and service providers
● Building reusable code and libraries for future use
● Optimisation of the application for maximum speed and scalability
● Implementation of security and data protection
● Translation of UI/UX wireframes to visual elements
● Integration of the front-end and back-end aspects of the web application
Qualifications and experience
● Proficient knowledge of a NodeJS back-end program language (1-2 years)
● Good understanding of AWS architecture and main components (S3, EC2,
CloudFront, Lambda)
● Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
● Data migration, transformation, and scripting
● Management of hosting environment, including database administration and
scaling an application to support load changes
● Ability to implement unit/integration tests
● Good understanding of React (3-4 years)
● Good understanding of TypeScript (~1 year)
● Basic knowledge of video and FFMPEG
● Proficient understanding of code versioning tools git, BitBucket, etc
● Familiarity with CI/CD concepts

Performance metrics
The core metric we measure the success of Vloggi by is customer usage. The more
customers use the platform, the more upgrades and the lower our churn. As a
result of successful deployment of improved and new features, we would expect to
see:
● Number of contributions per project
● Number of projects per customer
● Number of videos downloaded per customer

Remuneration
This role will be full-time full-stack, but with the ambition to move to a more
specialised function as we grow the engineering team. In order to incentivise the
role, a mix of remuneration is proposed:
● A salary package of around $110,000 per annum
● Inclusion within the Employee Share Option Program
● Bonus based on mutually agreed targets
