Lead Developer / Future CTO (Healthcare Startup)

Looking for a Lead Engineer - future CTO - someone visionary, capable, wants to be part of creating the future of healthcare.

You must be a very Senior Full-Stack Engineer (back end>front end), have built complex systems, and know what it takes to succeed in startups. For th first 6-12 months you will be heavily involved in coding and then move to more management as we grow and expand.

The biggest “disease” in healthcare is caused by medications. Patients get prescribed inappropriately, get too much, too little or no medicines at all. Patients get side effects, end up in hospital, and spend billions on medications when there are lower cost alternatives. This is a $528 Billion issue - and nearly completely preventable. This is ScalaMed.

Our mission is bold: Stop any medication related hospitalization and rip billions of dollars out if the system. We want to enable a medication and healthcare management experience that is simple to use, yet holistic in depth and breadth of content.

We are already nearly four years into our journey. Over the next 6 - 12 months, we will be focussed on our in-market product, building new features and micro-services, working closely with users to build something amazing that we can then scale across the USA and global markets.

ScalaMed launched in the USA in 2019 and is expanding to new sites, locations and to thousands of patients across the USA as the newest way for them to manage their medications seamlessly. We are generating initial revenue, are well funded, and we are excited for the next stage of our journey!

Our headquarters are in Sydney but we have team members around the world and focused only on the US market. This role does require some flexibility with work hours with our timezone and with supporting the USA market.

We are looking for someone with outstanding technical experience, a mature attitude and a preference for working with a small smart team, to join us in the role of Senior Engineer and or CTO.

This role includes hands-on development work as well as building out the team when applicable, code reviews and systems architectural design.

Our team of 6 currently consists of 2 engineers.

Our non-engineering team members include a UX/Design Lead / Product Manager. Our current stack includes NodeJS (Typescript) ReactNative, AWS, SQL.

The role:

Deep expertise and experience with the design, implementation and maintenance of complex systems is required.

You will report directly to the CEO, and have the opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of building a successful startup.

Required Skills

We require you to be able to demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience and expert-level mastery of the following:

Expert in JavaScript & Node.JS, Typescript
React & React Native (iOS and Android)
SQL/Relational Database Design & Implementation
Software Design
Mature attitude
Experience working across time zones and working with a technical team.
Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple high priority projects and tasks.
Passion for solving complex technical problems.
Enjoy working in a fast-moving environment.
