More About You

We are seeking an experienced sales professional to build new client relationships within a defined territory of financial and professional services firms. As Director of Sales, you will ideally be based in New York, NY OR Washington, DC, though remote locations will also be considered. The Business Development team works closely with Technology, Platform Solutions, and other GlobalWonks teams to deliver on all of our clients’ needs and to expand our presence and value to customers.

You are a sharp, ambitious, and self-motivated individual. A passionate leader who can execute independently. You’ll be hungry to lead, develop, and execute a lean and effective strategy to sell and develop new revenue opportunities. The successful candidate will come with a start-up mentality (and ideally start-up experience) and keen strategic and commercial instincts. The ideal candidate will have an acute desire to win, a demonstrated background and understanding in financial markets, polished communication skills, and the desire to be part of a performance-oriented and dynamic team environment.

Strong empathy for clients and passion for steep business growth is critical. A seasoned operator with the ability to work effectively across functional boundaries and contribute to broader strategic goals of the company. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to exceed sales quotas and identify and provide comprehensive solutions for individual customer needs – A desire to go the “extra mile” for clients, experts, and teammates.

Key Responsibilities
Identify, engage and build relationships with investment professionals (MDs, Principals, VPs) and operations personnel (COOs, CFOs) via phone, in-person meetings and email
Articulate GlobalWonks’ value proposition, and unique, tech-driven approach, as a cutting edge and differentiated offering in the space
Engage in a customer-first approach, with a view of current research and investment trends in client markets
Develop account plans for top named prospects and strategies for a defined territory
Work creatively and collaboratively with internal colleagues—customer strategy, product, marketing, legal, finance—to accelerate sales cycle and close new business
Lead user and team on-boarding sessions with new clients and users
Represent the culture and dynamic central to GlobalWonks and our approach to engaging the market
Key performance metrics for this role include core B2B sales activities, lead generation, opportunity/pipeline management, new closed revenue and speed of adoption of products/services upon closing.
Candidates for this position should have a demonstrated ability to close enterprise-level research engagements and/or have a track record of overachieving in a performance-based environment, preferably but not exclusively, in the financial services industry or consulting industry.
A demonstrated interest in and understanding of the content that matters to your client base is vital.
Qualifications

Basic

BA/BS degree or similar college level education.
5+ years in a business development role in a financial services, primary research or business services as a client-facing representative of the organization
A proven track record of sales success in all phases of the sales process – prospecting, qualifying and closing – at an enterprise level.
Experience building, managing, and leading a team of sales professionals to achieve both individual and team goals
Experience in a campaign-based sales program and managing multiple sales workflows simultaneously.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively and efficiently message complex concepts into understandable, actionable ideas
Experience with a technology or technology-enabled research, consulting or insights product strongly preferred.
The ability to travel, as needed, to achieve sales goals
Preferred location: New York, NY OR Washington, DC. Remote locations will also be considered.

Preferred

Professional Master’s degree preferred (MBA, MPP, etc.)
SaaS product experience
Startup experience/ability to work in ambiguous environments
Meets/exceeds GlobalWonks’ functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
