Location: Paddington, London/Remote

To be considered for this role you must have a strong knowledge of global geography and a keen interest in developing relationships with estate agents and developers around the world. Past extensive travel is highly appreciated and valued.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Daily responsibilities include: receiving assignments for stories, evaluating leads, pitching compelling story ideas to editors, revising and editing work for editorial approval, and collaborating with other reporters, editors, and production staff
• Gather information for newsworthy stories through observation, interviews, investigation, and research
• Build a network of sources for interviews and develop relationships within the proptech community
• Travel to various locations to find current, relevant details about newsworthy events in real-time and after the fact
• Use findings to construct well-written articles
• Retain awareness of the readers’ point of view
• Comply with the moral code of the profession
• Take photographs, video, or audio recordings to document events and facts
• Attend and report on events such as artistic, political, or social functions as well as sporting events
• Proofreading
• Staying up to date with privacy, contempt and defamation law
• Responsible for building relationships with property professionals, developers and brokers across multiple countries
• Ability to filter and scrape news items & property investment deals from 100 countries
• Newsletter creation
• Using relationships to discover off-market deals
• Country report writing.

Requirements:

• Proven working experience as a Journalist or Reporter
• Portfolio of published articles or newscasts
• Ability to follow strict deadlines and fast-check information
• Current knowledge of headlines
• Computer proficiency (MS Office, digital editing, web search, databases)
• Excellent communication and networking skills along with an aptitude in extracting information
• Good observation and deduction skills
• Integrity and morality
• Knowledge of communications media and telecommunications technology
• BSc degree in journalism or relevant field
• Desirable: marketing/ad experience
• Creating news filtering/news scraping
• Desirable: interest in the proptech sector or similar.
