Pedestrian Dead Reckoning Technology Lead

We are looking for a lead engineer to take ownership and enhance a market leading and patented algorithm for pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) commissioned from Cambridge Consultants. The role comprises two elements: Firstly, to immerse yourself in the technology and how to build on it; and secondly, to help build a team to bring in-house the company’s ongoing technology development, particularly in the application of AI techniques to object recognition, depth analysis and SLAM.

You will be a core member of the team at an early stage of the company’s evolution and the work that you do will have a significant social impact globally.

What you will do

Work closely with our technology development partner, Cambridge Consultants

Understand and take ownership of the existing PDR location technology

Shape and lead the ongoing technology development roadmap

Manage the pipeline of patent applications and maintain a benchmark of alternative technologies and academic approaches

Assist (possibly take the lead) in shaping and leading the company’s core technology team

The location is London and/or Cambridge UK, though an initial period working from home is expected.

The ideal candidate

Applicants should have strong practical experience and PhD or MSc specialising in statistical signal processing and/or machine learning

Hands-on experience developing and testing PDR and SLAM techniques is important

Applicants are expected to have solid programming/modelling skills in MATLAB/Python/C++

Experience of collaborating with third party organisations and agile development teams

Outstanding problem solving and good written and oral communication skills
