Senior Engineer

Reports to: Nathan McMinn, CTO

We are looking for an engineer to take full responsibility for the technical design and delivery of our SaaS solution. If you thrive in a hands-on role building the product as you lead a small, high performing team, then we want you at Conserv. As the Lead Engineer you’ll partner with our product team to deliver tools that excite our existing customers and help us acquire new ones.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team working on a complex SaaS product
• Be the leading voice on engineering opportunities, effort, risks for the rest of the team
• Plan team sprints balancing customer needs, team capacity and product priorities
• Build pixel perfect web interfaces with a focus on consistency and usability
• Interpret requirements and design flexible, scalable system components
• Increase test coverage and overall platform reliability, while resolving support issues quickly
• Consistently increase the quality and tempo of our engineering effort
• Set monthly and quarterly goals for engineering success
• We’re building a cutting edge solution in the cloud using Node and React, backed by Postgres, packaged into Docker containers and deployed via CircleCI, into an AWS environment managed by Terraform.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in a senior engineering role
• Experience leading high performing engineering teams to great outcomes
• Expert level JavaScript and cloud architect skills
• Customer-centric mindset with a focus on shipping fast and iterating
• Comfortable with end-to-end IoT solutions from sensors to analytics
• Ability to design, develop, and maintain a public API for customers and partners
• Experience with collections and preservation is a plus, but not required
• Strong communication, organization, and planning skills
• Critical, independent problem-solver
