The Company:
Open Bionics Ltd is a Bristol based company who designs, develops and manufactures bionic limbs for amputees. Our mission is to: “Create and Democratise Technology that Enhances the Human Body”. In other words, we want to make beautiful bionic limbs more accessible and to turn disabilities into superpowers! We’ve collaborated on marketing campaigns with some of the biggest brands in the world, such as Star Wars, Marvel, Twentieth Century Fox and Konami, to build bionic arms straight out of science fiction. We’ve won multiple awards including, most recently, Hanger Clinics Innovation Award for 2019. Please visit our website to find out more about us: www.openbionics.com.

Role Specification:
Are you an innovative person with a passion for making a difference to people’s lives? Do you want to work on groundbreaking, industry leading technology?
We are super excited to be recruiting for an App Developer to join our Research & Development team at Open Bionics! If you’re an existing developer looking for an exciting move or somebody who believes they have the aptitude and potential to move into a senior developer role, then this could be the job for you.

The role itself involves:
Giving users the ability to customise settings on their Hero Arms via their phone.
Developing the systems to provide over-the-air firmware updates to the Hero Arm so our users always have the latest and greatest.
Creating Android and iOS applications using React.
Working with the embedded software engineer to connect to the Hero Arm interface.

Our R&D team is a small group of experts. You will be the sole App Developer working most closely with our Embedded Software Developer as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You would likely be coordinating and partnering with app development consultants.

Any experience with React would be beneficial to your application, as would experience with Bluetooth and over-the-air updates.
