The Role
Roam is growing very quickly - you helping us deal with some growing pains and take the product beyond personal knowledge management into building a "graph of graphs" to allow users to connect their "second brains"
Specifically you'll be helping us with the front end side of things. You will be building new features, improving upon existing ones, fixing bugs and up skilling the rest of our team. When our new backend is ready you'll be helping rearchitect the front end to support faster initial page load and faster interaction times.
You should love Clojure(Script), have lots (4+ years) of experience building complex web applications with Reagent and/or React, have a good understanding of CSS, and be comfortable learning new technologies (Datalog, Electron, React Native, or back end technologies if need be)
Bonus points if you're familiar with the work of Doug Engelbart, Bret Victor, Michael Nielsen, Andy Matuschak, or Alan Kay.
Fun facts
We're profitable!
Our investors are users, and include Patrick and John Collison of Stripe, Tim Ferriss, Josh Wolfe from Lux Capital, and many other great folks who want to push the frontier of tools for thought.
We were Product Hunt's #2 2020 Product of the Year and #3 for the Early stage of Wing's Enterprise 30 2021.
We believe in allowing folks to own their data, and have total control to create the kind of thinking environment they want, so we've invested heavily in making Roam fully programmable.
Why you should apply
You want to work at the bleeding edge of organizational and technical innovation.
You are deeply interested in learning and teaching others.
You want to be part of a scrappy team working to help people think better.
Why you shouldn't apply
You do not thrive in a fast-paced working environment, where priorities can shift quickly.
You are not willing to engage in learning and experimenting with new and unique ways of thinking as a collective and working together remotely.
You are not willing to do whatever it takes, even if it is outside of what you would consider as typical for the role at other companies.
You are not a self-starter and do not have a bias toward action.
