The M13 Launchpad is assembling a founding team to take-to-market a breakthrough product poised to revolutionize the beauty industry. The Opte Precision Skincare System, developed by Procter & Gamble Ventures with over 40 patents, debuted last year at CES with raving reviews. Gizmodo coined it as a “real-life photoshop editor for your skin”. Popsugar believed it to be “the biggest beauty game-changer of the year”. With a global launch set for early 2020, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a founding team to turn this incredible technology into a sustainable, scalable business.

The founding team will have a breadth of experience in digital product, marketing, customer acquisition, customer experience, operations, and business development, but more importantly, the team will have a shared passion for building a company. An Immersive Candidate Experience in Los Angeles

Our founding team will be selected through a unique interview process that culminates in a multi-day immersive experience in Los Angeles. Final candidates will have the opportunity to get to know potential co-founders, gain exposure to M13’s network, and participate in a sprint towards building the ideal strategy and business model to bring this breakthrough IP to market. Whether or not candidates are selected as the final founders, each is sure to walk away with a valuable and memorable experience.

The M13 Launchpad was designed to launch companies faster and with less risk. We do this by identifying key sectors where whitespace exists, finding partners that bring unique advantages, engineering high potential founding teams, and surrounding them with resources needed to scale successfully and efficiently. Our first strategic partnership is with P&G Ventures, an internal startup studio within Procter & Gamble. This collaboration will leverage expertise in P&G's consumer-inspired innovation and concepts and M13's robust DTC expertise, incubation capabilities, and funding to help accelerate the growth of selected consumer businesses.

The Opte founding team will join the M13 Launchpad as its third cohort, working alongside and leveraging synergies of its predecessors actively working towards building and scaling direct-to-consumer businesses (Check out this case study on our first cohort, Pepper & Wits, to learn more).

Opte’s breakthrough IP has several years of market testing that have helped inform both brand and product iterations to-date, and will provide founders access to an incredible amount of consumer insights to inform the go-to-market strategy and business model development. The founding team will be provided with appropriate funding to support growth throughout its lifecycle, and founders will be well compensated with a mix of elements including salaries and company equity.

With seed funding, world-class advisors and partners, and fully developed IP from a world-renowned R&D organization, this is an excellent opportunity to establish an entrepreneurial career without the traditional risks of being a founder.

Q: The product and brand is already developed, but I have an opportunity to be a founder?
A: Pretty sweet, right? Although Opte has a highly developed brand and product ready for market, we are seeking a true founding team that will be afforded the autonomy and impact typically associated with the role.

Q: Why is Opte being transitioned from Procter & Gamble Ventures into a build studio at this stage?
A: M13 and PGV entered into a strategic relationship to leverage the strengths and expertise of both organizations to accelerate the growth and increase the success rate of brands created by PGV. This founding team will have the privilege of launching Opte into the DTC world and creating a sustainable business that eventually could be acquired back into one of P&G’s six sector business units.

Q: Do we need previous founding experience to apply?
A: Absolutely not! We are seeking first-time founders, failed founders, and successful founders alike, as long as they embody the entrepreneurial spirit and seek the opportunity to build and create.
