Senior Backend developer

At Juros Baixos we are looking for a Senior Backend developer to help us with the professionalization of our platform. We are in that phase where we have outgrown the initial version of our system and have other and bigger plans for the company.

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will become part of the product team and be responsible for upgrading our current product, implementing partner APIs, implementing new products and services in a tested secure, and performant way. You will be considered the expert in your work and looked at for making implementation and architecture decisions: what structure, which design patterns, and what frameworks/libraries to apply. Besides getting the work done it is important you are willing and can teach other developers how to level up their skills, warn them for traps you fell into but also teach them things you consider best practices.

Experience is key for us in this position if you have a degree in computer science, great but what is important is that you have experienced multiple projects in different settings large/big, Slow/fast, good and bad. We are looking for someone that can help us move to the next level, upgrade the quality of our product, and when refactoring can make you go faster or when it can slow you down.

Juros Baixos was founded in 2017 with the main goal of contributing towards a financially healthy Brazil until 2050. We are a one-stop-shop financial marketplace that enhances the experience of understanding, choosing, and acquiring a financial product 100% online. Last year we started our strategy towards expanding our origination portfolio for credit cards, debt renegotiation, bank accounts, and insurances while building our own financial wellness signature product.

The culture at Juros Baixos is very open, transparent, and informal. Each month all the teams (including our CEO, COO) present to each other what they have achieved, what the financial status is, and what they want to achieve next (we use a system called OKRs). We have a little bit of Dutch mentality in the company and appreciate it if you speak up. • Experience with Node.js and one of the following: Kotlin or Go or Java
• Experience with message queues such as Rabbit or Kafka
• Has an eye for code quality and takes the time / is patient enough to do code reviews
• Has more than ~5 years of professional programming experience in multiple companies/environments
• Is not afraid to speak up (in english, does not have to be perfect)
• Can see how a project can be broken down in smaller manageable bits
• Is always learning and playing around with new stuff
• Used to Git (not just clicking the GUI)

A big pre if you have experience with some of the following:

• Bazel
• Kafka / Kafka streams
• Reactive programming
• Rust (although we do not do that yet)
• Open source development and contribution
• Protobuf / GRPC
