Founding/Principal Engineer (SF or Remote)

The Opportunity

• You'll have the unique opportunity to be part of an early team and establish our engineering foundation.
• You'll work closely with the founders to shape the product roadmap, and determine how we can best use technology to achieve our mission.
• You'll work with our data scientist to integrate data and algorithms into new features for users, and solve complex business problems
• You'll partner with design to build a beautiful and joyful digital product for end users.
• You'll be responsible for end-to-end product development, including front end website architecture, back end applications, and develop APIs
• You will mentor other engineers and provide thoughtful and careful feedback on their implementations.
• You'll set best practices and be a champion for shipping organized and high-quality code.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

• 7+ years building and scaling digital products. You have well-rounded skills to run projects independently end to end. You have experience to architect and scale web products from their early iterations.
• Deep experience building and operating web applications. You have experience building and operating interactive web applications using modern web development frameworks, and you know how to architect web applications.
• Our current technology stack is Javascript, React + NodeJS and Firebase. We are open to engineers with other experience using modern web development frameworks.
• Product focussed mindset. You have the mindset to use technology to solve real business problems and are excited about solving problems at the human level as you are at the technology level. You love collaborating with product and design and being part of a team. You aren’t afraid to dig deep and ask the tough questions of our customers, team, and founders.
• Proficient programming skills. You are comfortable writing, reading, reviewing code day-to-day, and are a highly proficient programmer.
• Engineering culture champion. You know how to balance between quality, speed, and business needs.
• Empathetic communicator. You are a strong listener and collaborate well with different stakeholders. You gather inputs and feedback to help you reach an optimal decision. You can communicate clearly with non-technical members of the team.

• You've built great products with early-stage teams in the past.
• You have experience building for the end-user and internal stakeholders.
• You've played a role in establishing the foundation of an engineering team.

About Haldi
Haldi is an early stage personalized beauty commerce platform with a social layer. Founded by two former Googlers, Haldi creates a 100% personal store for each user and layers on the social proof of their micro-community.

We are taking a unique technology + human approach to solve the user problem (similar to Stitch Fix). We've already built a V1 platform that over 10K users already use and love. You will have a huge opportunity to shape Haldi and be responsible for key technology and architecture decisions.
