We’re 100% remote
Collage.com is a 100% remote company, with employees working together in states across the country. Last year, our remote work culture was profiled in a case study by the Harvard Business School (we are the first all-remote company they profiled). The Role
We are seeking a software engineer who is passionate about automation, operations, and working with other top engineers to build a great software company. As the first engineer focusing primarily on operations and infrastructure, you will be responsible for setting our strategy and establishing a dev ops roadmap, as well as leading implementation of improvements to our AWS infrastructure, development tools, and build system to enhance reliability, performance, and developer efficiency. We are looking for someone who shares our belief in planning ahead to stop fires before they start. Responsibilities
-Lead Collage.com’s dev ops strategy and roadmap.
-Fully own our build and continuous deployment systems (currently Webpack and Jenkins).
-Manage our local development, staging, and production environments, including configuration and updates.
-Administer our AWS infrastructure to maximize reliability and performance while maintaining a lean cost structure.
-Manage our cloud database systems and data pipelines

Qualifications
-Passion for staying at the forefront of engineering best practices and helping other developers
-Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Javascript required, PHP, Bash and Python nice to have)
-Proficient with Amazon Web Services (e.g., EC2, S3, CloudFront, ElastiCache), SQL, Linux, and configuring development environments (e.g., Docker, Packer)
-Previous experience supporting a modern web application using a build system (e.g., webpack) and continuous integration system (e.g., Jenkins)
-Cloud database administration (e.g., Aurora/MySQL, ETL, Redshift/Postgres) experience is preferred
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
