To further this goal we are looking for a motivated and pragmatic data analyst to help scale our ‘Book on Vio’ product group operations to new levels. ‘Book on Vio’ is responsible for making our great accommodation deals bookable directly on our website and ensuring a smooth booking & post-booking experience for our customers. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be the focal point of e-commerce operations data matters related to banking, treasury, fraud, payments, margin optimizations, and financial services. You will drive efficiency and performance enhancements to help scale our ‘Book on Vio’ product to make our great deals even better and available to more customers. And your financial modelling and data interpretation will lead to actionable recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

What you will do:

  • Guide finance and product decisions and optimisations with insights from e-commerce data (related to payments, finance, fraud etc.) and expertise.
  • Lead P&L and other financial reporting with data and tracking; build data models (with tools like dbt) and create dashboards in Looker in collaboration with data engineers.
  • Drive the automation of the reconciliation of financial data across multiple sources (including invoices, external data sources, bank statements etc.) in collaboration with the finance and engineering team, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Steer discussions with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within financial operations, leveraging data analysis to drive efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Be proactive about analysing the strengths, weaknesses and trends of Vio.com’s finance vitals and advise our leadership on defining the right strategy.
  • Share knowledge with other analysts and contribute to best practices across the analytics chapter.

What a day in the office might look like

During the daily stand-up, you raise issues you identified regarding low profitability in some regions and suggest improvements to payments processing deal with them. Before lunch, you improve the data model and dashboard used by the finance team for data reconciliation. After a team lunch, you meet with the team to brainstorm new ideas on how to implement vouchers/discounts for customers. After a 1on1 meeting with the CFO in which you discuss the financial forecast, you set aside time at the end of the day to deep dive into optimizing the payment costs and write up your insights and recommendations on how to evolve our payments method.

The team: CFO, finance managers, senior data analyst. You will also be part of a horizontal analytics team of 4 analysts in the Product Group as well as collaborate with Product Managers and Analytics Engineers.

Who you are:

  • You have at least 5 years of hands-on data analytics experience, including at least 2 years in finance/payments domain;
  • You are highly analytical and data-driven and can assemble, analyse and interpret data to make decisions and communicate findings;
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
  • You are an expert at using SQL and developing data models (using tools like Dbt) and dashboards in BI tools like Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI;
  • You have a good understanding of statistics;
  • You are eager to learn new things and have a flexible mindset;
  • Experience in e-commerce or online travel is a plus.
