Position Title: Healthcare Data Manager

Reporting To: VP, Engineering

Location: Chapel Hill, NC; Newton, MA or Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY

Compensation Information: Senior Data Manager 1 ($130,000-150,000), depending on qualifications

Position Summary:

Well is seeking an experienced Healthcare Data Manager with client facing and analyst skill sets to effectively manage the technical aspects of data integrations with clients. The scope of your job will be to ensure the success of all data interchange related aspects of client relationships and to be ultimately responsible for the quality of the data going into our systems. This includes overseeing the initial data load and analysis as well as ongoing data quality assurances. As we grow and build additional tooling we expect this role will take on more and more of the technical aspects of the interchange, initially it will rely heavily on communication with developers and analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external SMEs to facilitate file transfers, key exchange, field mappings, negotiating file schemas and transfer specifications
  • Represent data-focused internal stakeholders on client calls to ensure we get the data we need with the right controls in place to ensure the quality of upstream data dependent services and reporting
  • Understand capabilities of Well’s systems and steer partners toward compatible technology choices
  • Ensure client data is correct and that we correctly integrate it
  • Act as first line of defense in identifying and debugging problems with transfers and file contents
  • Facilitate data interchange testing processes including test cases and test data generation
  • Perform audits of existing dataflows to ensure correctness on a regular interval
  • Ensure data-related client documentation is clear and comprehensive
  • Maintain Well File Data Dictionaries with internal partners from clinical, data science, and BI

Preferred Requirements:

  • Understanding of US Healthcare System, including healthcare plans, insurance types, payors, providers and claim billing
  • Ability to be cordial and comfortable speaking with clients to work though technical details of file transfer activities
  • Skilled at documenting file processing and schema requirements.
  • Proficient in SQL and able to query out high level file details independently
  • Working knowledge of common data transfer protocols including SFTP and HTTPS/REST
  • Prior understanding of file types and schemas therein: XML, Json, CSV, TSV, etc
  • Comfort using or learning common tools to analyze and visualize data: Excel, Sheets, Tableau, Looker, PowerBI
  • Experience with Medical Claims Data with knowledge of data standards such as HL7, NDC, ICD-10, and CPT
  • Experience using tools to configure file transfers, map files, data loads
