Staff iOS Engineer

Our technology efficiently manages the real-time assignment of Runners to Favors, facilitates communication between customers, Runners, and support, keeps thousands of customer and Runner mobile applications in sync, and more.

Our engineers create the tools and applications necessary to connect our customers, Runners, merchants, and support teams. As a Staff iOS Engineer at Favor, you will be responsible for all phases of development, testing, and deployment of our native iOS applications. You will work closely with our product and operations teams to understand customer needs, build simple solutions to complex problems, and deliver delightful experiences to all our users.

What You'll Do

• Recommend changes to processes and tools at the team level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices.
• Lead creation of documentation and provides training around technology stacks and standards.
• Help other engineers understand system/application designs.
• Work with engineering and product management to plan solutions for large features.
• Communicate individual and project-level development statuses, issues, risks, and concerns to technical leadership and management.
• Independently build, diagnose, and fix high complexity technical issues.

Skills You Have

• A relevant degree or comparable formal training, certification, and/or work experience
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Ability to design and build technical solutions without direct oversight
• Knowledge of coding patterns and their applicable use cases, leveraging them to write performant, testable code
• Ability to utilize data structures and algorithms to solve problems
• Ability to write tests that cover the most common use cases and code paths
• Ability to use design patterns to design efficient, maintainable, and scalable features
• Ability to perform effective code reviews, identifying areas that may lead to bugs
• Ability to identify and communicate technical blockers early on in project work to develop well-scoped deliverables
• Understanding of the performance impact of queries and ability to generate complex data structures
• Familiarity with dependency injection and enabling testability
• Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following technologies: Objective-C, Swift, MVC, MVVM, SwiftUI, Combine, Async / Await, XCTest, Cocoapods, SPM, Alamofire, GitHub Actions
• Experience in a high-growth startup is a plus
