Title: Executive Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Reports To: EVP Finance and Purchasing

Location: Redwood City, California

Classification: Exempt

Overview:

The Executive Director, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for leading a small 4 person team of individual contributors who drive the functional financial management and planning for the company. Daily activities include management of the short term and long term financial plan, scenario modeling, valuing the Company’s financial strategies, individual department support, financial close support, strategic deal support, contract support, and alliance management support.

Coherus is a rapidly growing, commercial stage biotechnology company with a portfolio of approved products and international partnerships spanning multiple therapeutic areas. The Company’s strategy is to build a leading oncology franchise funded with cash generated through revenues from the portfolio of FDA-approved products.

Ideal candidate demonstrates an ability to both manage and “roll their sleeves up” while assisting senior executive leadership in the evaluation of growth strategies, contracts, and capital needs. A successful applicant will have experience in and an understanding of biopharma corporate finance and modeling to create insights to help inform corporate strategic decisions.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Building relevant models in partnership with colleagues from financial planning and senior leadership, to help inform corporate strategic decisions. Scenario modeling includes (but is not exclusive to):
    • Product NPVs
    • Corporate development deal modeling
    • Financial product offerings (IRR or NPV)
    • Long range plan P&L impact
    • Long range plan cash flow impact
  • Developing executive level financial impact framing, analytics and communication with internal and external audiences, including the Board of Directors, Partners, and Investors.
  • Coordinating necessary cross-functional inputs from R&D, Commercial, Legal, Corporate Development, and Finance.
  • Evaluating capital requirements for the Company’s growth strategies.
  • Partnering cross functionally to evaluate all financial aspects of existing and prospective corporate partnerships.
  • Supporting Finance/Financial Planning as needed with LRP and budgeting process to support corporate goals and objectives;
  • Tracking critical issues/key milestones as they arise throughout the organization, with an understanding of their potential impact to the financial strategy.
  • Tracking current market and industry trends, regulations and policies, and advise on their impact on Corporate Financial Strategy.
  • Travel as required, both domestically and internationally, to support financial strategy objectives and activities.

Experience, Education, Training, Traits:

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in economics, finance or mathematics; MBA is preferred.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in biopharma investment banking or corporate finance.
  • Demonstrated high level of leadership and managerial skills.
  • Demonstrated extensive background in biopharma corporate finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Must have excellent corporate financial model skills with the ability to build complex and dynamic financial models and to iterate scenario models rapidly.
  • Must have excellent MS PowerPoint skills.
  • Occasional travel (10%) required.

The Base Salary Range for this position is $250,000 - $290,000. Coherus considers various factors, including professional background and work experience, when determining base pay. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
