The Role

The 10x Genomics Legal Department is seeking a high-performing contracts manager or attorney, reporting to our Associate Director, Contracts, who will be deeply engaged as a primary legal liaison for all sales-related matters, with a particular focus on APAC and AMR regions. We seek a confident and proactive self-starter with experience drafting and negotiating sales, distribution, tender, and similar commercial contracts, who can prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in close concert with various sales, customer service, finance, and operational teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with legal counsel to prepare, negotiate, and manage standard company commercial contracts, including negotiate bids, tenders, terms of sale, and related documents for academic, government, biopharma, and other customers
  • Quickly analyze and interpret complex contractual provisions on customer paper to identify and advise internal stakeholders on business, operational, and legal risks
  • Work with sales, commercial finance, customer service, and other teams to structure discounts and promotions, and to revise and draft contract terms to meet customer requirements while maintaining legal and financial compliance
  • Work with internal operations teams to build scalable infrastructure for supporting rapidly growing domestic and international teams, including contract workflows and ongoing implementation of contracts management applications
  • Provide high level of customer satisfaction both internally and externally

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating sales agreements within the life sciences industry, preferably for a research tools company
  • Excellent customer service, contract drafting and negotiation, organizational, communication, prioritization, and time management skills required.
  • Experience with sales for physical products, especially capital equipment, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide rapid, pragmatic solutions to address legal and business risks in urgent and demanding situations
  • Self-directed and proactive, comfortable executing on multiple projects independently and in collaboration with others
  • Enthusiastic and creative problem solver with a demonstrated willingness to identify and act to coordinate with and assist cross-functional colleagues to accomplish commercial goals
  • Available during business hours in APAC. Experience in APAC markets, or proficiency in Chinese or Japanese, desirable
  • Familiarity with contract and sales operations in US and major non-U.S. markets
  • Understanding of revenue accounting desirable
  • Highly organized, excellent communication skills and detail-oriented

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program. Pay Range$167,000—$227,000 USD
