The Role

Halo Braid is a technology company empowering people with cutting-edge tools to engineer healthier and happier hair. Our first product is an automated hair braider that reduces appointment times from hours to minutes, empowering stylists to triple their business and addressing the 8 billion hours spent braiding hair each year. Our team of VC-backed serial founders brings experience from MIT, Harvard, and Apple. We’re on a mission to delight customers with products that celebrate their unique beauty and give them confidence one healthy strand at a time.

ABOUT YOU You're an electrical engineer with a broad technical background, willingness to learn, and interest in consumer products. You’re motivated, creative, a strong problem solver, and passionate. You’re customer driven - you want to build things real people want. This is a unique opportunity to launch new innovative products and create massive impact in an overlooked industry.

ABOUT THE ROLE You will work closely with a small, highly collaborative team to prototype and assemble circuit boards, perform QA, read and create electrical schematics, program microcontrollers. You will perform research and conduct tests to inform the design direction of future Halo products. This role will collaborate with the founding team, engineers and designers to build the product.

Ideally you have:

  • Experience soldering and prototyping electrical components
  • Familiarity with any of the following programming languages: Python, Arduino, C++
  • Creative problem solving, attention to detail, and troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent communication skills with thorough documentation
  • Experience with mechatronics components e.g. sensors, actuators, motors, magnets

Bonus if you have:

  • Makerspace experience
  • Robotics experience
  • Experience with CAD and 3D printing

We highly value diversity at our company and welcome and encourage applications from all backgrounds. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and scientific excellence in order to revolutionize the hair care industry

There is an opportunity for this role to be part-time and hybrid
