The Role
Orhont Magnetics LLC is a rapidly evolving startup with a strong focus on pioneering electric motor solutions. Despite our relatively small size, Orhont Magnetics is poised for significant growth and is committed to securing funding through NSF SBIR federal grants. Our objective is to advance the development of a groundbreaking gapless rolling electric motor.
Responsibilities:- Lead and manage a research project in the field of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering- Design and develop a innovative electric motor- Utilize ANSYS Workbench, Matlab, and other software tools to model and simulate complex electro-mechanical systems- Conduct experiments and collect data using various laboratory equipment- Analyze and interpret simulation and experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers- Prepare and present research findings at conferences and meetings
Experience:- Strong background in Mechanical Engineering and related fields- Proficiency in using ANSYS Workbench for system modeling and simulation- Knowledge of mechanical principles and experience with SolidWorks or Creo- Familiarity with BLDC motors and power electronics.- Basic understanding of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining processes- Autocad or COMSOL drawing experience.
Advantage will be given to candidates who served as PIs or Co-Pis for various research projects.

Duration and Compensation: The anticipated start date for this role is June 1, 2024, for an initial period of six months, with the potential for position extension. The compensation for this position is set at $126,100.
