Senior Software Engineer - Golang

Kwil is a framework for deploying relational databases as decentralized, byzantine fault tolerant blockchain networks. Backed by Blockchange, AlleyCorp, Amplify Partners, Digital Currency Group, and other leading VCs, the Kwil decentralized SQL solution is poised to become a major infrastructure layer in the next generation of Web3 dApps and protocols.

Kwil is looking for a generalist senior software engineer with Golang experience. As a Senior Software Engineer Focused, you will be joining a highly skilled team of engineers and researchers responsible for implementing and maintaining Kwil’s consensus algorithms, database engine, custom syntax language (Kuneiform), and client side tooling (e.g. CLIs, SDKs, etc.). As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be working on the cutting edge of blockchain and distributed ledger technology, working on implementing features such as staking, schema migrations, strong consistency, etc.

The candidate should have experience with Golang and a passion for blockchain and Web3. As a senior software engineer, you will join our team of skilled engineers responsible for developing high-performing decentralized database solutions for our customers. The candidate must have professional experience with Golang.

Job Responsibilities:

• Actively collaborate with our engineering team to establish and assign responsibilities for each development cycle.
• Design, build, and implement core components of Kwil.
• Mentor junior engineers on software engineering best practices and concepts.
• Write documentation and standardized formatting for new software that is added to the code base.
• Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical/agile decision-making.

Skill & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of deeply technical software development experience.
• Generalist Golang experience in Web3, Crypto, or Blockchain technologies.
• Experience developing and maintaining open source software.
• Experience researching and implementing Tendermint, CometBFT, the Comsos SDK, or other consensus algorithms is a plus.
• Ability to work in person in Austin, TX.
• Knowledge of databases and distributed systems.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to autonomously problem solve when the solution isn’t immediately apparent.
• Experience and willingness to help with client-side applications and SDKs in Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript is a plus, but not required.
