Lead Product Design Engineer

We're seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our early stage Agri-tech startup to help people eat better.

About you

As a design engineer, you contribute to our mission by helping conceive, design, validate, and launch our farming module from the ground that grows fresh, safe and tasty greens. You must have the drive to improve lives for the better, stand up to challenges and be able to adapt to change quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and development efforts and help design and develop our farming module.
• Design parts, components and assemblies of the assigned project
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings
• Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products
• Create methodologies and documentation which positively influence current and future projects, lead relentless improvements to existing products
• Help with product sourcing & purchasing.
• Use your knowledge to evaluate systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering
• Proven experience using CAD software; knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus
• Experience with complex assemblies, including PCBA, sensors, flexible assemblies and enclosures.
• Experience with building with Arduino/Raspberry pi
• Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing data
• A high degree of technical knowledge of HVAC and lighting systems
• Have excellent knowledge of coding languages (i.e. Python or Java)
• Experience with component design, analysis, and validation
• Excellent technical and interpersonal communication
• Evidence of being a self-starter and bringing projects to completion

Nice to have

• Experience in a fast-paced environment such as a startup
• Knowledge about hydroponics (CEA)
