About the Role
In this role, you will lead the development of a web-based application for interacting with Intersphere's forecast data.
This application will help our customers visualize our forecasts and eventually build and deploy custom forecast systems through a user interface. You will develop the front-end, web-based application, and you will also work with other engineering team members to deploy the application on the cloud.
The application will help our customers understand our forecasts, which is essential to our mission of providing actionable information to as many organizations as possible. This role will enable our customers to use our forecasts as if they had their own in-house climate scientist and data scientist teams.
Qualifications
If you are excited about this role and think you can contribute to our team, please apply even if you do not meet all of these requirements.
- B.S. in Computer Science or in any other quantitative/STEM discipline, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of experience developing front-end applications using platforms such as React, Angular, and Django
- Experience deploying front-end applications on cloud services such as AWS and GCP
- Experience working with geospatial data and visualization platforms (e.g., Mapbox)
- Self-motivated with a focus on carrying your code from development through to production
Employment Benefits
As compensation for your role at Intersphere, you will receive:
- A competitive salary ($80,000 to $125,000 per year, depending on experience)
- Up to four weeks of PTO per year
- Health insurance benefits
- Company stock ownership opportunities
Location and Time Commitment
We are a hybrid remote/in-person company with office space in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role is remote optional, although we prefer employees to be within the Colorado Front Range for mixed in-person working.
This position is full-time.
Application-Specific Information
In your application, please include a link to an example of your work that you find to be most compelling. This can be an example of code (e.g., Github), a scientific publication, or any other example that you think showcases your talents.
About Intersphere
Our mission: Weather and climate risk is one of the biggest societal problems of our era. We're disrupting the weather and climate forecasting industry by providing next-generation forecasting solutions that offer increased timeliness, accuracy, and usability.
Our technical vision: Asset-level forecasts from the next minute through the next two years, translated into metrics that our customers care about such as energy production and demand.
Our growth stage: We're a small company making our first hires to build out a long-range weather and climate forecasting system. The basis of our forecast system was developed over the past two years, and we are now expanding our engineering team to scale the product.
Intersphere is funded by the National Science Foundation and has raised $1,256,000 in funding to build our technology. You will be part of this NSF-funded effort to create a next-generation weather and climate forecasting system.
The markets we serve include energy, agriculture, and insurance.
