Software Engineer (Backend + DevOps)

Goals and Responsibilities

• As a Software Engineer focused on backend + DevOps you will play a critical role as one of the first 10 hires at Terrain. An ideal candidate can better deploy our solutions on the cloud, integrate new datasets in our data pipeline, and improve the workflows developed by our data analysts. You will work closely with the frontend and data team to make our data available to customers. As one of our early engineering hires you’ll have exposure to the entire lifecycle of our products. We’re an early stage startup that’s found product market fit and are looking to scale our team with best-in-class engineering. This is a remote position. ‍

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building production-quality code as part of an engineering team
• Advanced Python
• Proficient in DevOps/Cloud Infra (we use AWS; experience with RDS, DynamoDB, and Lambda preferred)
• Strong on accountability, organization, and collaboration
• Experience collaborating with a team
• Focused on building and shipping product, passionate about building a business ‍

Nice to Have

• Linux as a development environment
• Prior Big Data experience
• Prior Frontend experience (React, Javascript, HTML, and CSS)
• Experience with self directed teamwork and collaboration ‍
