Lead Backend Engineer in Neuroscience Startup

NOUS Imaging is unlocking the full potential of fMRI in hospitals and laboratories across the country. Founded by some of the country’s most renowned neuroscientists and neurologists in the field of MRI analysis, our algorithms remove noise and assess the quality of scans as they occur, keep children focused and standing still, and deliver high-resolution maps of the brain from the resulting neuroimagery to neurosurgeons and other specialists.

We are looking for talented and experienced folks to join the founding engineering team, focusing on our emerging cloud platform. As one of the first five engineers, you’ll have a chance to shape the course of the company, working with neuroscience PhDs and medical tech professionals at the top of their field to automate functional and diffuse brain-mapping technology for hospital radiology teams and international clinical research.

About the Role
Design and architect efficient and reliable microservices on AWS to communicate with neuroimagery systems in hospitals and clinical trial labs.
Create robust and scalable data processing pipelines, working side-by-side with neuroscientists and neurologists to develop FDA-grade production code to generate brain connectivity maps and neurosurgery targets.
Enforce high standards of code quality, security, test coverage, and automation best-practices.

About You
Have experience with a modern statically typed language in the context of web services. We use Golang.
Have experience with Python 3, in either a web service or data science context (or both combined!)
Have worked full-time in at least one cloud service architecture project, taking the project from inception to stable releases.
You believe strongly in monitoring, testing, and automating all development tasks. The phrase ‘tech debt’ makes you cringe.
You architect and create design diagrams and documents before your write your first line of code. There’s no surprises in the 11th hour for you.

The Other Details
This is a remote-friendly position. However, we ask that you’re able to travel to our office several times a year for team events and meetings with company leadership.
You are legally authorized to work in the U.S. We are currently too small to offer H1B sponsorship.
