The role

We are looking for an experienced and capable Lead Software Engineer to join our team. This position is a permanent full-time role based in Kuala Lumpur and offers a rare opportunity to work in a fast growing, best of breed company that retains the atmosphere and culture of a start-up. What you will do

  • You will be a senior technical member of an agile squad, delivering high performing, scalable, enterprise-grade online applications and services.

  • Responsible for delivery of software components and management of colleagues.
  • Continually develop skills, competencies, and knowledge to support your personal development and actively participate in setting and achieving performance objectives for self and team
  • Contribute to and follow best practice guidelines as defined by GBG’s Centres of Excellence Design, engineer, test, document and integrate components in line with the agreed ‘Definition of Done’
  • Elicit, understand and challenge stakeholder requirements
  • Manage and Co-ordinate incidents
  • Manage, develop and retain a team of the best and most engaged people
  • Mentor / train / coach other team members proactively and as needed
  • Proactively identify trends to address problems before they become incidents.
  • Proactively share knowledge with colleagues
  • Shape documentation
  • Support continuous integration practices including test driven development

To help you be successful, we’re looking for

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Java
  • Expert in working with databases such as PostgresSQL
  • Agile Methodologies
  • Cloud developer certification (e.g. AWS Certified Developer, Google cloud developer etc) Database Technologies
  • Experience working in a DevOps culture
  • Fluent English Language Speaker
  • JIRA (or equivalent Agile lifecycle tool)
  • Proficiency in a main stream programming language
  • API Frameworks
  • Database Technologies Experience
  • Leading Teams
  • Architecture and Microservices
  • Presentation Skills
  • Scripting
  • Test Automation Tools
