Head / Director of Engineering, Data and DevOp

Role:

As Director of Engineering for Data and DevOps, you will have ownership of the data strategy for Enara – Ranging from its inception to its implementation.

In this role, you will use technical expertise and visionary capabilities to ensure that data is Enara’s key differentiation. Based on experience, your title could become Head of Engineering.

You will manage and grow a team of software engineering leads and managers, partner and drive our vision and strategy for data and infrastructure, and ensure all Enara’s information stays safe.

Spanish is the most common language for interactions within the engineering team, but English is required for written communication and calls with stakeholders or other teams.

We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader, who will help shape the culture of our Latin American distributed team. The ideal candidate would be able to perform both as an engineering manager and as a senior architect for our data and DevOps system decisions.

Responsibilities

• Be a driver of our healthy engineering culture and our product organization values.
• Manage several tech leads and individual contributors across multiple teams, resolving their roadblocks and paving the way for their success.
• Define, track, communicate and improve the engineering team KPIs.
• Work with the CTO to define team budgets and be a leader for talent acquisition, ranging from sourcing to hiring.
• Help define our Data strategy, including planning, tooling, pipelines and its operational impact.
• Work within and outside of our technology organization to promote the correct use of data.
• Be a team player who can understand that startups needs are sometimes unpredictable:*
• Get your hands dirty when it’s needed, coding and using external/internal platforms to research and troubleshoot roadblocks.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of demonstrated experience as Engineering Manager, driving career development, creating environments where junior and mid-level engineers grow.
• 10 years of demonstrated experience building distributed or complex systems.
• Experience in distributed system architectures, database systems, and infrastructure systems.
• Ability to communicate with leads and evaluate their technical positions.
• Ability to lead an organization to high standards of metrics-validated engineering excellence.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to speak and write in English fluently (even if not perfect), representing and promoting complex technical concepts across multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent product sensibility, with capability to drive key product innovations or opportunities.
