The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced leader in the quality engineering domain to help us improve and build our quality engineering practice. As we grow our platform to serve our customers better, the role that quality engineering plays in delivering a quality product will be vital. On our path to building a highly efficient engineering practice, test automation and the integration with the CI/CD pipeline will become a pivotal part of how we work. And you will be a crucial player in all this. We are looking for someone who can be with us in our journey and mentor our engineers to improve how we test, who will evaluate and build processes to unlock process bottlenecks.

Your typical day at HomeStars:

  • Create and champion test standards for development teams.
  • Define and implement QA processes to optimize and scale testing within the product family,
  • Develop test strategies for business-critical projects to ensure product correctness before launch.
  • Partner with agile teams to leverage automation for scalable solutions to prevent regressions and ensure the reliability of products.
  • Define, build and report on quality metrics/dashboards to key stakeholders.
  • Research and implement solutions & tools to assist in the improvement of product family quality.
  • Mentor and train other quality engineers and collaborate with their direct manager.
  • Cultivate and maintain a healthy team culture and foster a quality mindset across teams.

Must-have qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software quality engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of serving as a Quality/Test Lead or Manager.
  • Professional coding experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Test automation experience across the automation pyramid (e.g. UI, Accessibility, API, Unit).
  • Experience in all phases of the software and testing lifecycle, inception through deployment.
  • Diverse background in leading test strategy, test planning, test case design, and execution.
  • Delivery leadership within Agile methodology projects (e.g. Scrum)
  • Proficiency using common test management tools (e.g. TestRail, HP ALM).
  • Experience in test data management.
  • Experience in performance/load testing.
  • Strong leader, educator, and coach.
  • An excellent communicator and motivator.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and patience.
  • Can work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board certification (ISTQB).
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
  • Certified Manager of Software Testing (CMST).
  • Computer Science background.
