The Role
We're looking for a full-time Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to play a lead role in the development of our robotics and other data capture solutions. The candidate will lead or play an integral role in designing and implementing the embedded systems based on Vimaan's on-board companion computer system -- including development of multiple onboard cameras and sensors, data capture, real time embedded computer vision and navigation capabilities. The candidate will need to implement real time embedded software, efficient signal capture and processing from cameras and enable sensor fusion and integration. The candidate will also be expected to play a lead role in troubleshooting problems in the field as well as improving the efficiency and reliability of the entire platform.
The candidate needs to be deeply hands-on and capable of self-guidance and technical leadership. The ideal individual will possess prior with embedded systems development – especially cameras, sensors and companion computer integration for imaging and robotics based devices. The candidate needs to have a working knowledge of PCB hardware as well.
The candidate will be expected to interact extensively in a tight team environment with employees in other disciplines and geographies. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the project, understand the bigger picture and interface effectively with the rest of the team to build a vibrant and intellectually thriving environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master’s or higher degrees preferred.)
- 8 years or more in startup and commercial environments with a demonstrated history of taking products to high volume production
- Strong understanding of embedded systems in an environment that is tightly constrained with respect to power, form factor and compute power
- Strong experience with PCB and full system bring-up, debug and integration
- Very strong experience with and knowledge of cameras and camera modules and embedded integration of cameras
- Good working experience with wireless communication systems, battery management circuitry and systems, and multi-sensor integration
- Willingness to travel and work with field related issues
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure startup environment and adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
