The Role

Why join us?
We’re looking for a Chief of Staff to help amplify the VP Engineering and the Engineering Management team (direct reports of the VP Engineering). As the CoS you’ll be given authority to drive key cross-cutting programs and processes to continually level-up the engineering organization. You’ll be instrumental in scaling the engineering organization by doubling the number of engineers in a year.
This job is a great opportunity to learn from successful VPs and leaders, to attend high-level meetings and to work on strategic projects with cross-functional teams in the company.

What you will directly contribute to:

1/ Drive cross-cutting Tech& Non-Tech Projects

  1. You’ll drive our Tech organisation-wide projects, aiming at the engineering organisation to scale and operate more efficiently: our Tech Delivery Capacity program and also our (about to start!) HR Tech program as well (better attracting and retaining our Tech talents).
  2. You will lead the relevant meetings, coordinate the relevant stakeholders contributing to your projects and follow-up on action plans and results.
  3. You will own & report the key Engineering Metrics including Velocity, Impact, Quality, Reliability etc.
  4. You will have a keen pulse of the engineering team and use this to propose new initiatives that will improve the overall health and happiness as well as belonging feeling of the engineering team.
  5. Your projects/outcomes will necessarily be non-software projects, software projects being handled by delivery teams you’ll closely work with.

2/ Facilitate Engineering Management team

  1. You will support the Tech-Management team governance: you’ll run weekly Engineering Management team meetings, ensure communication of the key decisions and follow-up on actions ;
  2. You will lead cross-cutting missions such as tech vision definition, no-code solutions, follow-up and updates: you organize workshop sessions, knowledge-sharing sessions, competency building programmes and any kind of efforts for the Tech management team to improve its skills and the way we work together.
  3. You’ll provide decision support through research, analysis of information, and a clear presentation of considerations.

3/ Key contribution to Tech Org Communications

  1. You’ll prepare, maintain and publish matrices, dashboards, high-level trackers & presentations for internal and external audiences. This involves setting the agenda for engineering all-hands meetings, internal keynotes, helping draft presentations to the executive team and board.
  2. You stay up-to-date with the Tech economy and community and leverage your knowledge in TILITE’s context to sustain our Tech ambitions.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science
An MBA is Preferrable but not Mandatory

Requirements:

  1. Help to drive alignment with the business units
  2. Drive discussion to ensure alignment on priorities within and across the BUs
  3. Recognize and drive closure on places where we are not aligned.
  4. Drive Special projects as needed
  5. Lead specific projects that require cross-functional collaboration, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to proactively develop and communicate strategy and execute initiatives.
  6. Drive, monitor & track projects that are the top priority for your exec and the staff.
  7. Prepare and drive information/status requests like Monthly/Quarterly functional Reviews etc.
  8. Setting up or improving systems and processes, and once developed, keeping them at a steady-state while moving on to the next set of systems or processes to improve.

What you will need to be successful:
Your Work Background

  • The right candidate will have interacted with significant engineering teams, set strategies, and experienced technical organisations scaling.
  • 5+ years of overall software development lifecycle experience or product management experience
  • Significant cross-functional project experience, working with many stakeholders across departments
  • Having managed engineering teams or geographically distributed projects is a plus
  • You had coded/built software earlier and now want to make more impact
  • Be comfortable working with executives and senior leaders, be proficient at running executive meetings
  • Strong program management
  • A structured approach to decision making, but with a strong bias towards action and speed
  • Good at driving accountability
  • High-level thinker, but also detail-oriented when executing on projects
  • Emotional intelligence, empathy, and ability to establish trusting and strong relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to influence others
  • Fluent in English *
