The Role

Monolith is excited to announce its search for a Senior Development Planning Engineer, Capital Projects.

Your Role:

The Senior Development Planning Engineer, Capital Projects will lead design and planning efforts for Monolith’s large capital projects to deploy our revolutionary green hydrogen and carbon black technology. Each project is expected to be $500M - >$1B in scale, eventually deployed in locations throughout the world. Monolith is currently executing the Olive Creek 2 Project, and beginning to assess multiple other sites and designs for future projects. This position will report directly to the OC2 Project Director, and will be the primary interface with the Project Development group to support site selection, conceptual design, and early execution planning activities for future sites.

You Will:

  • Convert the company growth plan into well-defined capital projects
  • Work closely within capital projects team to provide technical insight from initial conversations to finance-ready projects
  • Provide insight regarding capital project design and execution processes, for incorporation within early project development planning efforts
  • Assist with the technical aspects from project origination through a well-defined business case (FEL1/Pre-FEED)
  • Support transition of new initiatives into capital action
  • Manage internal and external resources to perform analyses & studies to further opportunities
  • Review work products and provide recommendations to team members and executive leadership
  • Represent company during early stages of project definition by meeting with potential stakeholders to define project assumptions and design basis
  • Understand the history and capability of Monolith’s technology and be able to present value proposition to potential partners /stakeholders for integrating Monolith technology into commercially viable opportunities
  • Identify additional opportunities for economic or environmental advantages (e.g. co-location benefits) and balance pros & cons to make recommendations for project
  • Work closely with financial team members to develop robust business cases and identify potential sensitivities based on early risk identification
  • Maintain knowledge and relationships within strategy industry and regional groups
  • Create project objectives and strategy statement, along with early project technical design basis and early project execution plan to meet optimal business outputs
  • Develop and maintain key performance metrics and continuous improvement process for evaluation of FEL1 performance and planning
  • Lead and Support in conjunction with Development Team project transition plan (end of FEL1/Pre-FEED to planning of FEL2/FEED) to set up project for success
  • Perform other duties as needed

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field, and
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to frame technical issues within the context of customer imperatives
  • Strong in large industrial capital projects experience, with ability to incorporate that experience into early project planning efforts

Work Environment

Work will be performed in an open office environment.

Travel Expectations

Up to 25% local, national and international travel may be required
