Sr. Backend Engineer w/ Multiplayer Game Server Experience

What you’ll do:

• Work directly with the CTO to audit existing architecture, present recommended solutions, and implement optimizations to existing backend infrastructure.
• Work alongside the Founding Team to translate goals and objectives into development initiatives.
• Architect and develop a scalable SFU or MCU media server for WebRTC.
• Architect and develop a SignalingServer for WebRTC handshake.
• Architect and develop a scalable websocket system for real-time data.
• Help transition existing backend to use Apollo / GraphQL.
• Contribute to system architecture and platform scalability decisions.
• Research and develop backend solutions for new ideas.
• Write high-quality code that supports the functionality of our products.
• Work to ensure quality delivery with unit and integration tests.
• Operate within a distributed team and work with colleagues both local and remote.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to development team members.

Qualifications:

• At least 5+ years of experience in software/backend development with data structures or algorithms.
• Experience building scalable multiplayer game servers w/ WebSockets / SocketIO.
• Experienced with software design and architecture.
• Experience writing in JavaScript/NodeJS, Python, and C++
• 5+ years experience designing and building high performance mission critical microservices.
• Experienced in testing and launching software products.
• Solid computer science fundamentals and a great engineering intuition.
• Strong attention to details and sense of ownership.
• Experience designing and operating SQL and No-SQL databases.
• Experience deploying applications and services into Cloud infrastructures such as AWS, Firebase, and DigitalOcean.
• Experience with AWS EC2, S3, RDS, and CloudFront.
• Experience managing large scale systems with large and varied code bases (SDKs/APIs/Libraries).
• Experience architecting and implementing APIs.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics field, or equivalent practical experience.
