The Role

OUTER'S MISSION Outer is a venture-backed startup based in Santa Monica, California on a mission to get people outside and inspire healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by creating innovative outdoor furniture.

THE ROLEAs the Fulfillment and Network Program Manager, you will lead a workgroup that spans across our internal and vendor-partner field teams, responsible for all aspects of building the logistics network in its future state while operating to success in our current business model. This includes designing the strategy, effectively building teams, and managing relationships with senior stakeholders, leading and inspiring the team, and achieving targets and related KPIs.

You will work across S&OP, business intelligence, operational excellence, and 3PL market launch teams, and be responsible for scaling out returns/reverse, white glove, and influencer/trade programs for an end-to-end fulfillment strategy to transform the customer experience.

This role is part of the Supply Chain division and will report directly to the Director of Supply Chain. Our ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of building the planning functions for transportation networks and delivering results at scale, and building innovative and systemic solutions. The role requires high passion, operating at depth, and prior success in developing and leading an organization to scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage all aspects of fulfillment planning and the growth of network strategy for Outer Logistics.
  • Develop and execute on industry leading quality measurements related to our vendor-partner strategies, and warehouse fulfillment operations to enhance existing processes and achieve operational excellence
  • Oversee shipping & logistics team, supporting with RFPs, contract negotiations, and planning
  • Lead quarterly KPI & business reviews with each vendor-partner
  • Work alongside departments, partners, and customers to develop labor models, operational reporting, and capacity management to improve our network strategy and enable exponential growth
  • Develop and document SOPs to train operating partners on utilization of technology for end to end processes
  • Own internal reporting on fulfillment quality & error rates at each location; work with the Lead Operations Specialist to identify and implement opportunities to improve
  • Collaborate with Importing Program Manager, Supply Chain Analyst and Purchase Planning on Outer’s forward positioning strategies on all current and future product collections
  • Work with IT/Tech to develop/enhance business systems to help achieve transportation processes and automate manual processes

What You’ll Need

  • E-commerce (B2C) background is a requirement, experience in the furniture industry is preferredBS/BA in Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration or Business Management or equivalent
  • 5+ years enabling and leading technology enabled supply chain operations with an established track record launching logistics, fulfillment, and distribution solutions in a fast-paced e-commerce and last mile environment
  • Direct 4-6 years of experience developing business/data management software systems in the supply chain and/or warehouse space
  • 5-7 years of Fulfillment, Logistics, Warehouse Management and/or Supply Chain experience
  • Current managerial responsibility of a team of 5+Demonstrated accountability for P&L, hitting targets and team KPIs
  • Experience working with B2C shipping carriers a plus
  • Competency pursuing data network performance issues with a strong sense of urgency to correct/improve
  • Extensive knowledge in transportation, operations management, and logistics networks
  • Define and maintain compliance to Best Practices and SLAs with Outer Fulfillment and Transportation partners
  • Solid understanding of data analysis including advanced proficiency with Tableau or equivalent
  • Passion for creating highly reliable systems through both design, infrastructure, and operational practices
  • Proficiency in an Enterprise System, such as NetSuite, Acumatica or another major ERP system
  • Deep knowledge in planning processes: supply planning, new products introduction, material and fulfillment planning and SIOP processes
  • Certificates in the capacities of: CQIA,CQPA, PMP, and/or Six Sigma (CSS-BB,GB or YB) are a plus
  • Must be willing to travel as field team operations are spread across multiple locations
