The Role

Power Technology Research Inc. (PTR) is a United States/Germany based bespoke market research company with a focus on power grid and new energy market research. We are a very lean and fast-moving B2B company, investing and/or pivoting to capture the most market demand possible. Our business development team is looking for a Sales Development Rep to hunt new business and grow our customer base in the United States and Canada. As our Sales Development Rep in North America, you will take charge of our sales pipeline in moving the prospects on their journey from cold outreach and in-person meetings to initial interest and eventual RFPs. The right person for this job will be able to learn about our services very quickly and start hunting for the right opportunities to meet their targets.

What will you be doing:

  • Navigate target accounts among complex Fortune-500 organizations to identify the key decision makers and learn about their market research needs.
  • Initial prospecting and identification of opportunities in North America to always maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Work through the identification, initial interest and RFP phases of the customer journey and take a lead on creating proposals for these RFPs with help from the analyst team.
  • Manage customer accounts moving forward once a deal is closed with them, using key account management and account-based marketing tools, to grow business with them.
  • Collaborate with the founders on the sales strategy, creating the required structure necessary for growth.
  • Collaborate with the product development to relay insights from the front-line discussions with the customers to guide product/service development.

Who are we looking for:
You have at least 3 years of experience in B2B business development/sales role.
You love to hunt and win deals using the resources at your disposal and do not have a ‘farming-only’ mind-set.
You have incredibly strong written and verbal communication skills.
You have very high emotional intelligence to empathize with the prospects while learning about their problems.

Bonus (nice to have) Skills:
You prior sales experience is in a company involved in power grid, e-mobility, energy or market research sector.
You are based in or close to the research triangle to be close to prospects in the area.
You have experience leading commercialization of your own business (B2B).
You have experience working with a CRM system (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.).
