The Role

Salient Energy focused on creating a carbon-free future with zinc-ion batteries. Our proprietary zinc-ion batteries are a low-cost, long-lasting, and safe battery that can be paired with renewable energy sources to replace the coal and natural gas that are destroying our planet.

Salient is opening a new office in Oakland to engineer products integrating our proprietary battery technology. You will be one of the first team members of this branch and have a large impact on the development of our future products.

We are looking for a talented engineer to join our team. This team has the responsibility of taking new products from idea, to design to prototype. The candidate should be extremely comfortable working in a hands-on environment. Most importantly a sharp mind and ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorming concepts in a team environment
  • Generating circuit schematics, layout and physical assemblies
  • Component selection and sourcing
  • Hands on testing and evaluation prototype systems
  • Working with suppliers to source critical components and equipment
  • Documentation of design and test results

Skills:

  • Proficiency with PCB design software (Solidworks or similar)
  • Experience with battery management systems is preffered
  • Experience with grid technology
  • Experience with power electronics
  • Experience with hobby solar panels, batteries, etc is a plus
