Scope of Position:
The primary focus of this role is on process stability and equipment reliability in production. This role is within the cross-functional converting team, and will proactively maintain line performance with shift technicians through process tuning and equipment repair/maintenance, as well as support engineer-led activities. In this role, you will work on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. This role is expected to be able to work with no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. We look for you to encompass the application of scientific and technological principles concerned with a continuous or periodic system of operations or activities in the production of manufactured products. You will provide technical expertise in glass-forming technologies and related manufacturing equipment, supporting the manufacturing and product development for the business.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Glass forming technical expertise
Carry out all work in a safe manner and use required PPE
Function as a collaborative team member supporting manufacturing
Provide inputs on continuous improvement projects
Support line maintenance activities
Support training for operations and other technicians
Troubleshoot line equipment issues and product anomalies
Support job changes and production runs
Report at production meetings and data reviews
Perform visual and dimensional inspections
Support process and inventory tracking systems
Act as 1st Level Subject Expert.
Production Stability and Performance:
Responsible for performance on production lines and working with technicians and operators to preserve stable, high yield performance.
Identify and resolve equipment issues, ranging from known maintenance needs to new, low frequency failures.
Train plant technicians and operators.
Support engineer-led process improvement activities from focused improvement portfolios.
Support FAT and installation of new equipment, as needed
Travel Requirements:
Short term (first 1-6 months): up to 50%
Long term (>6months): We anticipate less than 5% travel is required for this role.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Starting on an 8-hour shift, and then transitioning to 2-2-3 shift schedule on 12-hour shifts. Day and night shift positions available.
Must be flexible with schedule to support 24/7 manufacturing.
Required Education:
Required 2-year Associate’s or Technical Degree.
Required Years and Area of Experience:
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a technical role within a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree
Required Skills:
Ability to appreciate the larger goal while executing daily tasks to achieve the goal.
Desired Skills:
Prior 5+ years of Machinist or other mechanically skilled experience strongly preferred.
Highly interested in candidates with converting and glass forming experience.
Working technical knowledge of material science.
MS Office; particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel .
Soft Skills:
Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions.
The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.
Passionate about manufacturing.
