Upward Labs is looking for an experienced and dynamic Marketing & Communications Direcgtor to broaden awareness and increase visibility of the brand while growing our global community of startups and enterprise partners. This role includes management of social marketing and branding initiatives, content creation, relationship management and broad public relations, in addition to many more responsibilities.
The successful candidate will thrive on working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, be creative, innovative, and demonstrate the ability to think outside of the box. Candidate must have a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and possess superior written and verbal communications skills. The position requires a high energy level and flexibility with work hours. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and who can be trusted to represent our brand with integrity. This position involves independent judgment and a high level of initiative based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead scalable digital communications programs that deliver tangible results against key marketing initiatives.
- Create compelling stories and narratives that will capture the interest and attention of reporters and relevant media outlets to ignite conversations and amplify the brand, as well as shape the positioning and messaging of company initiatives, announcements and issues.
- Proactively develop external partnerships and support existing partnerships to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of our marketing strategy.
- Meet with the decision-makers of large organizations to implement campaigns to supplement goals and initiatives-- all in an effort to drive revenue and meet goals.
- Monitor and evangelize the latest social trends, benchmarking analysis and emerging digital platform opportunities.
- Integrate interactive media into communications strategy by developing and executing social media and digital initiatives, creating compelling external digital campaigns, messaging, and content and supervising high profile social media accounts.
- Ensure all content being created and published is aligned with our company tone of voice and strategic goals; balanced with a global message and optimized for targeted distribution across social channels.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in marketing strategy and implementation with strong emphasis on content creation, relationship management and digital marketing
- 5+ years of experience working with technology, startups, entrepreneurship, venture capital
- Excellent digital communications strategy and content development skills are crucial.
- Ability to build and foster strong business relationships and partnerships.
- Proven attention to detail through prior work or life experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable with a variety of responsibilities – we're lean so we all have to roll up our sleeves!
- Excellent time-management skills: ability to multitask, and able to cope with unexpected situations
- Strategic thinking: to create and implement the strategies important for growing the business
- Comfortable with a minimal amount of direction but high expectations
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
