Embedded Firmware Engineer

Strapt Vending is a rapidly growing startup based in Atlanta. Backed by Create-X and Outlander Labs, Strapt was launched in May of 2020 to afford users an easier way to access high-quality hygiene products in a pinch while helping brands grow their reach through deep customer insights and analytics. Since our launch, we’ve worked with facilities across the southeast to provide better hygiene dispensers in their restrooms and signed partnerships with market leaders such as LOLA to ensure women are getting the highest quality products available.

We’re looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to work alongside our team to maintain and iterate on the firmware and electrical PCB design that power our IoT vending machines. This is position will begin as a part-time or contract role with the potential to convert into full-time position.

Specific tasks include:

• Support development of firmware run on vending machines
• Optimize firmware and PCB design for power efficiencies, cost efficiencies, and vending functionality
• Prototyping, designing, and testing of PCBs
• Maintaining / updating integrations between vending machines and Google Cloud backend
• Working closely with Strapt’s Software Team to ensure end-to-end functionality

Basic Qualifications:

• Excellent C, C++ programming skills
• 2+ years of experience with embedded firmware (RTOS) and basic I/O and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
• 2+ years of experience with electronics board design and schematics
• Proficiency with Git or other version control
• Self-starter and effective in working in a small dynamic team
• Strong debugging and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:PC

• Experience with GSM or LTE protocols and interfaces
• Design background using Altium, Eagle, KiCad or other EDA software
• Familiarity with Google Cloud, SQL, and data analytics
• Experience with agile software development and software documentation practices
