JOB REQUIREMENTS
Work Experience required
• You are an engineer of software, not only a basic programmer of software.
• ≥ 7 years full-time work experience as a software engineer.
• ≥ 5 years experience with PHP
• ≥ 3 years experience in Wordpress.
• ≥ 3 years experience in Laravel.
• ≥ 2 years experience in Javascript.
• ≥ 1 year experience with CodeIgniter during the last 3 years. Able to reconstruct a codebase in Laravel that was in CodeIgniter.
• You’ve been the lead PHP engineer on a team.
• You spent at least 2 years as a full-time regular employee of a corporation during the last 4 years. Stability and reliability of an employee, as shown by their work history, is relevant to us because we seek to build great teams that last.
• You worked > 20 days in either Laravel or CodeIgniter during the last 5 months.
Skills required
• Able to work effectively with these elements of our tech stack in your 1st month: Docker, Bitbucket Pipelines, AWS EC2, AWS CodeDeploy, Wordpress (for our blog and some landing pages), Javascript, HTML, CSS, CodeIgniter, Laravel.
• Familiar with automated testing. Able to write unit tests and integration tests.
• Must have used for ≥ 3 years the tools of Atlassian, GitHub, or GitLab which are useful for managing code commits to a web app by an 8+ person software team, efficiently and without code conflicts.
• Nice to haves but not required: Node.js, React.js, Wordpress private plugin development.
Logistics required
• Work at least 35-40 hours per week
• Attend meetings at 10:00am ET Mon-Fri.
• To enable collaboration, 4 hours of your office hours should occur during your choice from 7am-3pm ET (New York time).
Other requirements
• Fluent English in oral conversation and writing.
• Bachelors or masters degree with a grade point average of at least A-. In a later phase of interviews, we’ll ask for your official list of university courses and grades, which you can obtain from your university.
• We require someone who can work with us for at least 1 year. This is for a long-term, employee role.
• Consistently reliable internet connection.
