Senior Software Engineer

Role Summary
Trilogy Mentors is a rapidly expanding education technology startup that provides relationship-based learning software to educators around the world. We are bringing engineering in-house to enhance our abilities to meet product roadmap goals, and this role is the beginning of that team.

Your mission is to build and oversee the technical design and development of our flagship product while collaborating with leadership to provide critical insight on the product roadmap. This is both a strategic and technical role. You will develop and guide the creation of technology while acting as an engineering thought leader within the organization.

Essential responsibilities include writing and executing the deployment of code for our platform, writing technical documents, managing your workload, communicating progress, and releasing high quality code. You’ll work closely with Product Management and Design to craft an achievable roadmap and shared vision for our technology.

As the Senior Engineer you will understand our business objectives, integrate them into our development priorities, articulate technical considerations to non-technical peers, and grow our engineering team.

Work you’ll be doing includes
Development

Front and back end software development on cloud products
Collaborate with remote development team
Translate designs and product documentation into technical requirements
Define, prioritize, and manage development plan
Fix bugs as identified by QA and Customer Care
Architecture

Ensure system architecture is stable, scalable, and secure
Lead technical decisions to ensure alignment with architecture and roadmap strategy
Minimize exposure to technical debt
Management & Leadership

Collaborate on product roadmap to define objectives, level of effort, and timeline
Define & implement development process and methodology
Provide technical insight and product guidance to internal teams
Provide direction and guidance to third-party QA team
Provide guidance to leadership on engineer hiring strategy (requirements, timeline, etc.)
Requirements:
7+ years of developing high-quality code for web-based applications
Ability to make critical architectural decisions
Experience with cloud application development on AWS
Knowledge of HTML5 Video, WebRTC, React, PHP, Java, and Docker are all positives
Ability to travel to Richmond, VA as required
