Position Summary:
In this role, the hands-on team member will be tasked with performing essential duties at the ground level as a part of both the iROC research team and the product development team. This person will be responsible for implementing and consistently maintaining a disciplined and planned set of daily processes and laboratory activities described below in order to advance our technologies and applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Senior Software/DevOps Engineer Iontra’s team is comprised of veteran technology and business builders, including former NASA / CalTech Ph.D. and the executive management team that developed and launched the highly successful Proterra electric bus and charging infrastructure company. Iontra is involved in the development of important battery improvement and enabling technologies. This is a full-time, hands-on role in a fast-paced startup environment. We are looking for a Senior Software/DevOps Engineer to help architect and manage Iontra’s data pipeline.

Responsibilities:
• Architect, build and deploy backend services to support Iontra’s fleet operations.
• Administer and maintain scalable system infrastructure on AWS.
• Work closely with the software engineering and data generation team to capture requirements and propose new designs to improve speed and efficiency in Iontra’s data pipeline.
• Use configuration management tools to handle deployment and security of Iontra’s backend and fleet of devices.
• Implement simple front-end pages for technicians to use for management and interaction with Iontra’s fleet.
• Communicate problems early to team members and offer solutions.
• Use Agile development methodologies to aid in the software development lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computing Security or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development related fields.
• Demonstrable experience with cloud platforms: AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines for build/test/deployment of software services. • Strong knowledge Configuration Management Tools such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible. • Experience with database design: Relational (MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB or similar).
• Strong programming experience in Javascript/Node.js, Python, Ruby or similar.
• Linux server administration and management experience.
• Familiarity with front-end stacks: Angular/React/Vue, Bootstrap.
• Ability to work in both a team environment and autonomously.
• Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
• Programming skills in at least one OOP language.
• Modern source control: Git, Github/Gitlab.
• Networking protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT.
• Experience with Websockets/Socket.io.
• Prior experience working in an operations or start-up environment
