Alo Home is transforming the way people buy new homes online. We build software that empowers residential developers to sell direct-to-consumer through online storefronts. Think: Shopify for home builders. With only four months in operation, during our MVP we have brought online over 400 homes and achieved significant traction.
You will take on a leadership role within a small but growing founding team composed of industry experts and seasoned innovators. The CTO will join the founding team and play a fundamental role in shaping our digital products, growing our team, and evolving our company culture. The CTO will join the Co-founding CEO and Co-founding VP of Product in translating unique industry and user insights into highly scalable software solutions that will serve residential developers across Latin America.
The Role
The CTO will take ownership of the technical development of our product. We aim to bring in someone who is a proactive thinker, that can tackle large challenges and break it down into smaller components. We envision someone that can think of modular and evolving solutions as we look to expand our platform. The CTO will play an integral role in recruiting top talent into the development team.
Duties
- Work closely with the VP of Product and CEO to define and deliver new products and enhancements
- Align the company's technology resources with the organization's short- and long-term goals
- Define talent needs within the technical team and work to recruit top engineering and design talent in tandem with the CEO and VP of Product
- Identify, compare, select and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs
- Represent the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions
- Working closely with the CEO in managing and optimizing infrastructure assets to satisfy internal financial, compliance, security and optimization targets
- Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence and scalability
- In collaboration with the VP of Product track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics
- Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture
- Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape
- Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Previous working experience as Tech Lead (preferably within a best-in-class startup)
- Bachelor's degree required, MA preferred in Engineering, Computer Science or similar relevant field
- In-depth knowledge of web systems architecture, design and development
- Comfortable working with both frontend and backend challenges
- Hands on experience with complex project management
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Experience hiring and mentoring engineers
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Effective negotiation and vendor management skills
- Proactive problem solver and passionate about experimentation
