This Role:

We’re looking for sharp, analytical engineers to help us continue to move quickly and scale engineering operations. Ideal candidates have previous startup experience and have a breadth of knowledge throughout multiple layers of the software ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other engineers and product teammates to maintain and improve access to Avochato's cloud platform
• Maintain and extend automations that manage cloud infrastructure and application deployment in production and stage environments
• Investigate and analyze and monitor and resolve incidents and outages
• Work with the Product team to develop solutions using cloud infrastructure to improve site reliability and performance
• Compartmentalize code updates and deployment scripts for code review and deployment using Git
• Engage in code reviews with other engineers for pull requests made to Avochato repositories
• Participate in weekly stand-up meetings and report progress on assignments
• Participate in the engineering on-call PagerDuty rotation

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience working as an engineer using Ruby on Rails, Git, JSON / XML / HTML / Javascript, AWS and SQL
• 5+ years experience maintaining production environments
• Experience maintaining distributed systems using AWS, RDS, EC2, ElasticCache, ElasticSearch, Cloudwatch, Route53 (experience with other cloud software providers or self-hosted solutions a plus)
• Deep understanding of modern secure networking and messaging protocols including TCP, DNS, HTTPS, WSS, SSL, SMPP
• Excels working in a remote environment
• Collaborative, self-motivated, and driven
• Passionate about investigating and solving complex problems

• All major applications run on Linux, Nginx, PostgreSQL and Rails 5.2
• Asyncronous queueing using Redis and Sidekiq, with websocket management using AnyCable
• Deployments to EC2 managed via ElasticBeanstalk, along with automated CI using TravisCI and Honeybadger
• Mobile-first Front-end Web development in TypeScript, React, HTML5, CSS3,
• Native Mobile applications compiled from React Native
• Cloud SMS APIs including Twilio and MessageBird
• Mixpanel for analytics / dashboarding
• REST integrations with Salesforce, Stripe, Hubspot, Slack, Okta, Zapier and more
