The Role

Whispr is looking for a senior executive team member to lead additional fundraising efforts and manage day-to-day business operations in the office.

This role will be responsible for optimizing our current processes and to launch brand new products. Their primary responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of a company, acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors (the board), retail partners, brokers and investors.

We are looking for a strategic parter to come on for ground level equity, help Whispr raise a seed round, and then transition to a full-time salaried position.

The Market
As millions of Americans suffer from chronic pain and stress, non-toxic, non-addictive, plant-based products like CBD have become a focal point in the CPG / wellness sector. With the passing of the Farm Bill in 2018, opportunties for growth in the CBD sector have skyrocketed, but CBD is an emerging industry with almost no regulatory clarity from the FDA. Very few brands are building the brand equity required for mass user adoption, and even fewer are focused on developing hiqh-quality, clean products with transparency needed to scale. The global COVID-19 pandemic has drastically shifted consumer mindset towards self-care, and has changed the way people are discovering new brands and shopping for products. Brick-and-mortar retailers are scrambling to open new channels and competition over the digital landscape has increased. Additionally, the affluent female demographic is largely underserved, which is one that is comfortable investing in self-care and wellness products, often at a high premium.

Products
Whispr is positioned for success as a luxury beauty brand without any discernible beauty products.
Our leadership team has a strong command of paid strategies and has shown fantastic growth and momentum using this strategy. Whispr must create a brand and a set of products that are undeniable to our target audience. In Q1 2020, Whispr launched with a core set of products; namely, a tincture, bath bomb, and roll-on. In Q2, we innovated during the pandemic and launched a CBD-infused hand sanitizer and breath spray. Through ecommerce learnings and conversations with notalble partners, it has become clear that Whispr needs a set of innovative topical products that stand up to the brand and allow us to take full advantage of the opportunities available. Whispr is seeking investment to develop a strong set of CBD-infused SKUs including a Green Tea Face Scrub, 3-in-1 Moisturizer with SPF, Anti-aging Eye Cream, body lotion, and toner.

Competition
While there are many CBD brands emerging, few occupy the premium CPG category with a specific focus in self-care and beauty. This category provides the highest margins and has an established raving-fan culture online. Self-care is growing at a rapid rate, and we expect this to continue after the pandemic as people focus on their everyday health and wellness. Whispr’s closest competitors are those like Prima, Populum, Feals, Beam, and Lord Jones.

Whispr’s competitive advantage is the strength of it’s team, it’s world-class, proprietary products, and a brand that’s positioned for success both digitally and with traditional brick-and-mortar. Combined, the founders have over 10 years of experience in manufacturing and selling premium cannabis products, two exits of $500M, 30 years of relationships with national retailers and CPG brands, and experience building and scaling national brands. In a short span of time, we’ve developed a vibrant online community of customers and influencers with a list of 10k earned emails and phone numbers ready for more Whispr products.
The opportunity within retail is vast, and growing quickly. We believe a human, customer-first approach combined with a proactive and educated outbound sales team will be a differentiator. Whispr is focused on a robust digital marketing stragegy including organic and paid media, thoughtful content, and influencer marketing. We will leverage momentum within the press and our own ecommerce to attract multi-channel retailers with both brick-and-mortar and ecommerce storefronts. We will engage in CPG marketplaces with big-box retail and supermarket brokers, buyers, and distributors.
