The Role

Amusements parks and Zoos are meant to be fun, not stressful! We launched TraKid in 2019 to keep parents connected to their kids, no matter where they are in the park. Now we need your help. TraKid is a start-up tech company based out of Raleigh, NC. We have invented (and patented) a great solution to a surprisingly common problem - an average of 50 kids per day are separated from their parents in 400 of the largest amusement parks across the world. We think our wearable and a simple mobile app (for parents and for the park) is an easy fix!

You will join the mobile development team to deliver this novel solution to parks everywhere. We have an existing application that we love and we are ready for you to take it to the next level. We want you to help us make our entire solution smarter, faster, more engaging, and of course - more fun! Our customers expect reliable, scalable, compliant solutions. They use this app to keep track of their kids after all! You will be their voice and will help make critical decisions as we continue to build and improve our solution.

We prefer to limit in-office meetings to Tuesday - Thursday so you have personal and professional flexibility to get the job done on your own terms.

What You Bring to the Role
Demonstrated mastery of Java and Kotlin language.
Design and build applications for the iOS or Android platform
Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
Experience with software architecture, agile development, and functional testing.
Experience working with a connected hardware product with high-reliability expectations.
Knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code.
Working experience with JSON and REST APIs.
Knowledge of design patterns such as MVC and MVVM.
Thorough understanding of Android Studio and XCode.
Knowledge of open-source and commercial libraries commonly used in the Android and iOS platforms.
Ability to analyze large features and implement practical solutions.
Validated understanding of fundamental Computer Science concepts.
You have the ability to collaborate and respectfully with others by listening, communicating clearly, and actively sharing knowledge.
Result oriented and deadline driven.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of engineers.

The Opportunity
We are a fast-growing startup with opportunity for personal and professional growth.
This position starts as a contractor and is expected to move to FTE after 90 days.
Pay starts at $6,500/mo and all bonus/profit-sharing will be considered at the FTE transition.
