Senior Back-End Engineer

Calico is creating a new utility data platform to help building managers make the most of their energy footprint and we need another senior engineer to help take us there. You’ll work with a small team while quickly iterating toward a product used by building owners and utility admins alike. Our engineers regularly dive into all parts of the stack to ship new features, from wireframe to functional product. Attention to detail, customer-focus, and communication are key, as you’ll be collaborating daily with both technical and non-technical folks in the complex realm of utility data. You will report to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a team to prototype, develop, and deploy web services in a continuous integration and deployment environment
• Self-manage time to efficiently deliver the features most important to business goals
• Assist in developing high level architecture and process flow diagrams
• Assist in the collection and documentation of requirements, development of user stories, and estimates
• Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software
• Foster a positive team environment
• Ensure confidentiality of internal and external data
• Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft .NET Core development using C#
• Experience with web development including REST API services
• Experience developing and maintaining database tables and other SQL schema elements
• Experience writing high quality and maintainable code, including tests

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience developing and deploying services to Azure
• Experience building web applications with a modern frontend stack, ideally React + TypeScript
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), management concepts and associated tools e.g. Terraform
• Experience with MS SQL Server, Entity framework (Core) and migrations
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies
