Technical Lead / Lead Developer (Video)

Anyone with a laptop or mobile phone and an internet connection can connect to a video call, yet organizations spend billions of dollars each year on travel just to get people in the same room. For the past five years, we have worked to bring life-sized and life-like video interactions to educational, cultural, and event settings. Time and time again we’ve seen the magic that is possible when eye-contact is made, the technology disappears, and real human connection emerges. Today we embark on a new path, to change the way teams engage and collaborate across distance in organizations large and small.

We have entered into our first enterprise partnership for development and testing of our solution and we are looking for an experienced and visionary technical leader to join our team and play a leadership role in developing this product and bringing it to market. In this role, you will work directly with company leadership and will own the code base for our enterprise product. You will lead a small team of developers to bring fully life-sized and life-like video collaboration to life.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead technical discussions to develop a deep understanding of user needs and company objectives, contributing to the product development strategy
• Lead the software team leveraging agile techniques to build and deliver customer-facing products
• Design, code, test, and support both UI and backend services
• Peer/code review other engineers on the team
• Mentor experienced and inexperienced developers

Requirements:

• 6 to 8 years minimum experience in software engineering roles including in a lead capacity with proven success in building products in a fast-paced environment. Additional professional experience desirable.
• Experience in managing teams in Agile/Scrum techniques.
• Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
• Deep C++ fluency
• Fluency in React, Node, AWS
• Experience with video processing and transport highly desirable
• Well-honed skills in source control management using Git or similar.
• Strong problem solver with an attitude where no technical challenge is too great and ability to break down complex problems into smaller, actionable solutions.
• Self motivated and highly organized.
• Proven success in mentoring less experienced developers.

This is a demanding and fast-paced role on a highly-ambitious team. You will be central to the development and growth of a unique initiative that will reshape the way individuals and communities connect and engage globally. The Shared_Studios team works remotely from around the world and this is a remote position. Our office locations are in Boulder, CO and Brooklyn, NY, and this role may require you to work on-site periodically.
