The Role

Director of Programs – Role

Program Design (30% of their time)
The Director of Programs is responsible for the program design of a 6-month Fellowship program Watson Institute will run for a leading global corporation. This includes:

  • Consulting with Watson Institute’s Director of Development and external partners to ensure that the design of the program meets the expectations of our partners and is impactful for participants.
  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Search throughout the recruitment and selection process of the Fellows to ensure that incoming Fellows align with the programmatic and impact goals of the partnership.
  • Identify and recruit diverse, high profile Master Course Teachers, Mentors, and other community leaders to be involved in the program.
  • Strategizing with the Director of Operations on how to best equip Fellows to execute Basecamps (three-day intensive workshops - a common component of the 6-month Fellowships Watson Institute runs for leading global corporations) that have the capacity to create the greatest delta of impact.
  • Liaising with the funding partner to identify opportunities to engage the corporation and/or foundation team in the program design. This is of key importance to keep the corporate partner engaged throughout the program.
  • Ensuring that the Fellows are able to meet, and ideally exceed, the impact goals of the partnership, which is critical for maintaining goodwill with the partner.

Leading Program Implementation (50% of their time)
The Director of Programs leads the implementation of the 6-month Fellowship Program Watson Institute will run for a leading global corporation. This includes:

  • Facilitating all workshops and additional programmatic elements of programs we run for leading corporations and foundations.
  • Facilitate the in-person gatherings that kick-off and wrap-up the Fellowship.
  • Leading interactive, energetic, and project-based tasks to keep all Fellows engaged throughout the virtual programs.
  • Delivering a strong programmatic experience for any tailor-made bespoke program with the goal of achieving a 9/10 or above on each metric in the scholar reviews.
  • Coordinating Master Course Teacher Facilitation by ensuring that all Master Course Teachers have a meaningful experience while volunteering their time to participate in Watson Institute’s Programs.
  • Communicating and designing the content of the workshop with the Master Course Teacher and sending any required pre-reading to the Fellows.

Impact Gathering (20% of their time)
The Director will be responsible for evaluating and gathering the information we need to effectively demonstrate the program’s impact. This includes:

  • Sharing Fellow profiles, stories, and achievements with the Director of Development.
  • Leading the post-program survey for Fellows.
  • Analyzing the post-program survey results and presenting them to leadership in an easy to understand format.

- Providing support to the Director of Operations as they work with Fellows to gather impact data from Basecamps.
