The Role

Outline of Role:
The BD position is responsible for profitable revenue growth across all departments of Company within the assigned territory. Client interactions will be anchored in the spirit of establishing strategic long term, mutually beneficial business partnerships. This is a home office based position (midwest states preferred) requiring approximately 50% travel, including overnight if needed.

Responsibilities will include:
Win new business from current and potential target accounts utilizing the tools provided for effective execution of the sales process. Efforts will be reflected in the monthly meeting goals and closed sales requirements.
Establish strong relationships with existing client base in given territory at various levels with key business and technical contacts.
Annual comprehensive business reviews will be performed on key accounts as defined. Maintenance meetings of existing accounts will be performed on an on-going basis as needed to ensure client satisfaction with lab partnership. Efforts will be reflected in the monthly meeting metrics.
Must be able to review monthly sales reports for trends and respond appropriately in a timely manner.
Act as the face of Company to food companies within the given territory (external clients).
Act as the face of food companies to Company (internal clients) by working with CS, Ops, and IT to relay information critical to the success of the account.
Responsible for facilitating and owning the Onboarding Process when initiating new accounts.
Attend assigned trade shows and participate in customer focused marketing plans as directed.
Manage all aspects of the sales cycle including writing and presenting professional business proposals and assist with RFP/RFQ responses as directed.
Maintain client files within SalesForce documenting meetings, phone calls, emails, opportunities, and the status of the sales cycle and sales opportunities. Effort will be reflected by monthly tracking of the SalesForce activities.
Participate in price increase process as directed; negotiate price increases based on feedback from management and knowledge of client base in assigned territory.
Generate and meet deadlines for reports as needed. Efforts will be reflected through monthly tracking.
Develop and maintain professional selling skills and personal technical expertise relating to food safety and quality programs.
Use all resources provided to prospect, maintain client base, sales activities, and develop client relationships.
Continuously improve selling skills, knowledge of Company, Companies competitors and detailed knowledge of food safety within the industry.
Must be independent, autonomous, and competitive to win business while maintaining excellent relationships with Company lab personnel.

Qualifications:
Ability to work independently AND as a team member
Ability and willingness to travel frequently
Solid computer skills including MS Outlook, Power Point, Word and Excel
Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
