**LEAD MAINTENANCE MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBILITIES:**

  • Maintain launch ground support equipment (GSE)/production tooling parts and assemblies which conform to exacting design configuration and specifications through preventative maintenance repairs and upgrades for all SpaceX programs at the Cape and other SpaceX sites
  • Validate and ensure latest tooling configurations (revisions) are being effectively maintained throughout the life cycle of the product
  • Plan, and interface with other launch and production groups including external vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to complete tasks
  • Coordinate and execute outsource activities on and off-site
  • Create detailed high-quality work orders, engineering masters, and other manufacturing resource planning
  • Create RFP’s, PO’s and issue tickets as required
  • Develop planning to satisfy issue ticket dispositions
  • Support tool engineering as required in the review of new and upgraded tooling
  • Provide planning recommendations and feedback to ground reliability strategic engineering teams at the Cape and in Hawthorne
  • Enforce standard practices and procedures as they relate to 91-710 range requirements, part drawings, AS9100, SPX/quality documents or other applicable written criteria
  • Remove all blockers and resolve discrepancies preventing tasks from being completed
  • Support tooling builds, repairs, preventative maintenance and upgrades at other sites as needed
  • Implement and create standard repairs as required
  • Manage department resources and technicians’ day to day activities
  • Prioritize all preventative maintenance repairs and upgrades in alignment with launch/production master scheduling
  • Communicate status to end users on a regular basis. Notify end user if deadlines will not be met
  • Assign tasks to technicians as required to complete prioritized work
  • Oversee Hawthorne ground reliability maintenance technicians assigned to and/or traveling to the Cape
  • Ensure all work is completed in the time allotted
  • Provide weekly reports to ground reliability tactical tooling team lead engineer in Hawthorne

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, or science, or a 2-year technical school degree with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing/process planning and/or lead tooling role
  • 5+ years professional experience in an aerospace manufacturing planning role
  • 5+ years of professional experience with planning software or ERP/MRP systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tooling manufacturing experience within the aerospace, automotive or metal fabrication industries
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Professional experience translating blueprint and CAD system models.
  • Project management experience in fabrication shop environment
  • Strong analytical, computer, and written skills
  • Knowledgeable in machining, welding and fabrication as it relates to tooling
  • 5+ years experience in a fast paced high volume aerospace maintenance and/or tooling shop
  • 3+ years 3D CAD system experience with Solidworks/CATIA, MasterCAM, Teamcenter or NX
  • Proactive, self-starter attitude and ability to keep up on projects from start to finish
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, parts lists, and specifications
  • Experienced in MS Office products such as MS Excel, Word, OneNote, Project and Outlook
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision
  • Mechanically inclined, proficient with all types of hand tools and able to use precision measuring equipment

ADDITIONAL** REQUIREMENTS:**

  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license to operate personal and company vehicles while on Cape Canaveral Air force Station
  • Must be open to work either 1st shift or 2nd shift, overtime and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and be able to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Ability to travel as needed (minimum 10% travel required)
