Senior Java/Spring Backend Engineer

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join as an early hire to help us define and build the future of real estate investing. You will be responsible for ensuring that our API are well-engineered, performant, highly available, and thoughtfully designed. The backend is core to the user experience, connecting with our frontend as well as with partner services. It is based on a microservices architecture and leverages a combination of server (Spring) and serverless (Python / NodeJS) infrastructure. The backend interacts with data stores spanning MongoDB, in-memory databases, and S3. We support all engineers to take ownership over technical and product decisions, closely interact with users to collect feedback, and contribute to a thoughtful, dynamic team culture.

As a senior backend engineer, you will:

• Partner closely with the CEO on the API and technical designs
• Plan, architect, code, and end-to-end Spring
• Operate the backend at low latency, high availability, and quality
• Work with technologies such as Spring Boot and Java
• Nurture and coach junior talent
• Establish DevOps processes and support tools to increase agility

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
• Hands-on experience and advanced proficiency in Spring/Java
• Five (5) + years of software development experience with the above technology. Show us the projects you are proud of
• Detail-oriented and data-driven individual with a track record of delivering financial product backends
• Great communication with a track record of keeping stakeholders abreast of important milestones and issues
• Self-drive, works well against deadlines, and can self-manage their time to their project schedule
• Avid and continuous desire to learn and solve complex problems
• Go getter attitude to go above and beyond to deliver on customer experiences

Bonus Brownie Points:

• Experience designing, building, and operating financial systems
• Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and similar technologies
